Everything you need to know before your keg arrives.

As a rough guide, a 50L keg pours around 90+ pints — enough for 25–30 guests over a 3–4 hour party. A 25L keg suits smaller gatherings of 12–15. For bigger events like 21sts, most hosts go for two or more 50L kegs. Not sure? Text us your guest count and we'll recommend the right setup — and remember, there's no charge for leftover beer.

Absolutely. The kegs shown are our always-available core range in 25L and 50L — but there's no limit. Whether you need two kegs or ten, in either size, we can sort it for your event. Just let us know your guest numbers and we'll help you get the quantity right.

Yes! What you see on the site is just the core range — the most popular picks. Brew Moon brews a lot more than this, and we can often get other beers fresh for your event. Flick us a message with what you're after (or ask what's pouring fresh right now) and we'll see what we can do.

It depends on your pump system. With our standard hand pump (what most customers use), the pump pushes air into the keg — so your beer is at its best the same day. Plan to tap it when the party starts and enjoy it within 12–24 hours. If you upgrade to our CO₂ jockey box system, the keg stays fully carbonated and fresh for 24–48 hours — the last glass pours just as good as the first.

Every keg hire includes a free hand pump (picnic pump) — no power needed. Want to level up? You can upgrade to a CO₂ jockey box system with 1, 2, or 6 taps, depending on the size of your event. The CO₂ system keeps every pour perfectly carbonated from first glass to last.

It won't ruin your night — every rental comes with two pumps, so you've got a backup on hand just in case. If anything else goes wrong, text Mathew on 020 4178 4956 and we'll sort it.

No power needed at all — the hand pump is hand-operated, no electricity required. We include enough free ice with every delivery to get you started. On a hot Canterbury summer's day we recommend topping up with a bag or two from the servo, and keeping the keg covered and out of direct sun. A cold, covered keg pours better beer all night.

Usually one of three things: the keg's too warm (keep it iced, covered, and in the shade), it's been shaken up recently (let it settle for 30–60 minutes after moving), or the pour technique needs a tweak. Tilt your glass at 45 degrees, pour down the side, then straighten up as it fills. If you're on the hand pump, only pump as needed — over-pumping makes foam.

No problem at all — just return it with whatever's left. There's no charge for leftover beer, you only pay the keg hire price. We'd rather you order the right size upfront, so check our size guide if you're unsure.

We deliver to you, and when the party's done you return the keg, pump, and bucket to either of our two drop-off points: our depot at 107 Montreal Street (Base Woodfired Pizza), Christchurch City, or our taproom at 12 Markham Street, Amberley. Whichever's easier for you.

Simple: return the keg, pump system, and bucket in good condition to our Montreal Street depot or Amberley taproom, and your $200 bond comes straight back to you. Most customers have it back within a day or two of return.

The earlier the better — summer weekends and the 21st birthday season (November–March) book out fast. We recommend locking your keg in 2–3 weeks ahead for peak dates. Got a last-minute party? Text us anyway — if we've got stock, we'll make it happen.

Yes — we deliver right across Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region, including Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Rolleston, Lincoln, and North Canterbury (our taproom's in Amberley). Delivery includes setup and a full walkthrough so you're pouring perfect pints before we leave.

We don't supply cups ourselves, but most party hire companies in Christchurch can sort you out quickly. Your local supermarket also stocks disposable cup packs. We do supply the tap, drip tray, and a full setup walkthrough — everything you need to pour a perfect pint.

We take responsible service seriously — it's part of why parents trust us with 21sts. Alcohol can only be supplied to guests 18+, and as the host you're responsible for your guests on the night. We're happy to share our responsible hosting tips at delivery: plenty of food, water on hand, and a plan for getting everyone home safe. A great party is one everyone remembers for the right reasons.

We understand NZ weather can be unpredictable. If you need to postpone or cancel, text Mathew on 020 4178 4956 as early as possible and we'll do our best to reschedule at no extra cost. Cancellations within 48 hours of the delivery time may forfeit the $200 bond.

Usually, yes — per pint, a keg typically works out cheaper than the equivalent in bottles, and there's no mountain of empties to deal with afterwards. You also get fresh, local Brew Moon beer on tap, which beats warm bottles out of a chilly bin every time.

We pour fresh, award-winning craft beer from Brew Moon Brewery in Amberley, North Canterbury. Our core range covers the crowd-pleasers — lagers, pale ales, and more — in 25L and 50L kegs, and we can source other Brew Moon beers on request. Local beer, brewed down the road, delivered to your door.
